Lisa Di Giulio is a MSc student at the Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development programme.

Lisa is interested in participatory approaches to develop transformative pathways, post-growth economies, and the intersection between environmental and social justice issues.

Di Giulio has an Honours BSc degree in Global Sustainability Science from the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. She combined her undergraduate study with a minor in Conflict Studies from CCS Utrecht. In her education, Lisa focused on Governance and Societal transformations, gaining experience in topics such as Socio-economic processes, Policy evaluation, and Environmental Impact Assessment. In her thesis, Lisa used a mixed methods approach to evaluate the adaptability of the network of urban food commons in Utrecht. Her Honours Research Project dealt with analyzing the different discourses on “caporalato” in the agri-food sector in Italy. Lisa has also completed independent courses and training in “Project management”, “Behavioural Change for Sustainable Development”, and “Gender perspectives for Sustainability”.

In 2022-2023, Lisa worked for a local NGO (FEPP) in Nueva Loja, Ecuador, gaining experience in project design, management and evaluation related to forest conservation, rural development, and migration.

Di Giulio has extensive volunteering experience in different contexts (Europe, Africa, South America) working with refugees and other vulnerable groups, as well as developing environmental education activities for kids.
