Andrea De Cervo is a project manager working on the Ocean Health Index for the Baltic Sea
De Cervo’s current research focuses on increasing the value of environmental open data science applied to the Baltic Sea and improving methods that assess Baltic Sea health at local and global level using quantitative approaches in a social-ecological system context.
Interests in marine ecology and management led De Cervo to work on the Baltic Health Index (BHI), a regional application of the Ocean Health Index (OHI) framework. The BHI comprehensively measures and assesses status and progress towards the benefits and services people expect a healthy Baltic Sea should provide from social, economic and environmental perspectives.
As project manager on the Baltic Health Index project, De Cervo collects, processes and evaluates data, supports investigation of patterns or interactions, and coordinates meetings and workshops with experts, stakeholders and NGOs.
Prior to her position at the SRC, De Cervo worked as laboratory assistant at Stockholm University, in field samplings and quantitative experiments (large-scale mesocosm) in Askö (Sweden).
De Cervo holds a MSc in Marine Biology from Stockholm University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biology from University of Catania, Italy.
