Eva Porcuna Ferrer seeks to understand the complexity of social-ecological systems and develop solutions for real-world problems that build more resilient and equal societies.

Porcuna Ferrer holds a double degree in Industrial Design Engineering and Design from Elisava UPF Barcelona, and the Academy of Architecture, Arts and Design in Prague. In her degree thesis, she conducted fieldwork in the refugee squats in Exarcheia, Greece, and focused on co-designing an initiative to connect refugee women’s cultural heritage to their new realities, transforming textile waste into art and communication pieces. For this thesis, Porcuna Ferrer received a mention at the Catalonia Ecodesign Award 2019.

During 2017, she also held an internship at The Beach Sustainist Design Hub in Amsterdam, engaging with newcomers and local businesses and working with circular economy, social transitions, and plastic waste.

Porcuna Ferrer has always been involved in a variety of volunteering programs, teaching music and leisure-time activities for a local organization in Barcelona, setting up, managing and photographing workshops for Makers Unite, and collaborating with the local NGO SOS Refugiados.
