Bo Su is an early career scientist doing research in the interface of cryosphere and sustainability sciences.
Bo Su is a guest researcher within the Anthropocene theme at Stockholm Resilience Centre. His main focus is towards understanding cryosphere’s role for Earth system resilience and estimating the planetary boundary for cryosphere. Additionally, Su also serves as a member of extended secretariat of the Earth Commission supporting the workstream of Earth System Boundaries.
Su has broad experience in the fields of cryosphere, climate and sustainability sciences. He obtained his PhD in physical geography in 2022, which was jointly trained at the Beijing Normal University, China and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He continued his study as a Liyun postdoc researcher at the Beijing Normal University from July 2022 to February 2024, and then works at the University of Gothenburg as a visiting researcher from March 2024. He is the chief researcher of three ongoing projects that aim to evaluate cryosphere’s contribution to socio-ecological systems, and safeguard cryosphere-social systems resilience in the Anthropocene.
Su is an active member of Future Earth, IACS, IGS, EGU, and YESS, etc., and the Education Committee member of China Society of Cryospheric Sciences. He collaborates with a number of colleagues at research institutes in China, Sweden, USA and Germany. Su was a group reviewer for IPCC AR6 before, and currently serves as reviewer for several journals such as npj Climate and Atmospheric Science, WIREs Water, Journal of Cleaner Production, Science of the Total Environment, Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres, etc. He also acted as a leader author and/or TSU for several report, book, and encyclopaedia in his filed.
